Crane Bases, Capping beams, ground beams, propping, piled rafts & above ground structures

Structural works

GSS is able to offer a range of structural works in isolation or as a package with our piling and basement capability:

·     Column removal

·     Lift pit deepening, lowering and retrofit

·     Formation of cantilever structures

·     Formation of new full height openings

·     Installation of vibration damping system

·     Façade retention schemes

Crane bases

We offer a complete package for design and installation of piled and gravity crane bases and other temporary support such as those required for façade retention.  Our restricted access, low headroom, mini-piling rigs can be use within existing buildings to allow the earlier installation of tower cranes and can shorten demolition and construction programs.

Capping beams

We can design and install reinforced concrete capping beams on a stand alone basis or in conjunction with piles we have installed.

Ground beams

GSS can design and install a variety of ground beams and slabs to suit any project, whether of a permanent or temporary nature, including coordinating openings and drainage elements.

Propping

Our temporary works design team can design temporary propping and steel support frames to provide lateral stability during excavation, demolition or structural alternation works. Our site teams and temporary works coordinators can install propping and steelwork to our own design or those by others.

Piled rafts

We can offer a complete design and build service for piled rafts, as typically required for steel framed buildings. By early discussion with the structural engineer, we can optimise the design of the piles and slab to minimise material costs. Our service comprises preparing the site for piling, pile installation, drainage coordination and installation, and slab construction.

Above Ground Structures

GSS is able to provide complete structures, having experience in both reinforced concrete and steel frame construction. This is often beneficial on small sites or where we are constructing a basement to minimise program and the need to manage and coordinate with multiple contractors.

SoILmec SR95

Our SR-95 rig can operate in rotary and CFA modes and is the extended mast version with wider tracks for stability, has remote tracking for loading/unloading and a dual auger cleaner to improve cleaning efficiency. In rotary (LDP) mode it can be fitted with a locking kelly bar to bore to depths of 70m at diameters ranging from 600mm to 1900mm. In CFA mode it can be configured in multiple configurations (4 line and 2 line) to meet site requirements. CFA bored lengths of up to 34m and diameters ranging from 350mm to 1200mm can be achieved.  The rig has a weight of about 100tonnes and has a Euro stage V engine.

Klemm 702

The Klemm 702 is a restricted access rig which can produce excellent weight to pile diameter results. Capable of drilling 508/450mm case and auger piles to a depth of 26m and SFA piles to depths of 16m. With the ability to work remotely up to 50m from the power pack via umbilical hoses, the rig is an excellent choice for basement works, or working within existing buildings for floor or mezzanine upgrade works.

Klemm 708

The Klemm 708 is ideal for tight access sites where umbilical hoses would cause a logistical issue. Capable of drilling 508/450mm case and auger piles to a depth of 26m and SFA piles to depths of 18m. At 10tonnes the rig is ideal for renovation works from an existing slab or minimally designed piling mats.

Klemm 709-2 and 709-3

The Klemm 709-2 and the 709-3 are excellent mid-range rigs with respective weights of 13.5 and 18.5 tonnes.  Both rig types are capable of installing case and auger piles with diameters up to 660/600mm and to depths of 32m dependent on ground conditions. The 709 can also install SFA piles to diameters of 600mm overcoming the problem of operating a full size CFA rig on smaller sites or where restricted headroom exists.
